4th Grade

Welcome to 4th Grade!

Our writing standards for fourth grade students focus on a variety of genres including opinion writing, research, informational writing, and narrative writing. The focus in reading is to use our comprehension skills in order to deepen our understanding of the text. Math concepts include division, fractions, decimals, percents, multiplication and geometry. Colorado history is the primary focus of our social studies this year. Science units revolve around electricity, the solar system, Colorado landforms and eco zones.

Meet the 4th Grade Teachers!

Meet Ms. McDonnell

My Name is Kate McDonnell and I am from Fort Collins, Colorado. I went to the University of Wyoming where I got my degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.

I am so excited to be in my 8th year of teaching and in my 6th year at Meeker! My first two years of teaching was in Glendale, Arizona where I taught 1st and 4th grade. I believe that every child is so important and unique and I strive to highlight that every day.

I love hanging out with my family (including my cats!), watching sports, golfing, building legos, and baking. My favorite subject is math- I love to teach and learn math! This is going to be an amazing school year and I am so grateful to be here.

Meet Ms. Knoche

Hello! My name is Kristen Knoche and I am from Craig, Colorado. I went to Metro State University, where I got my degree in Human Development with a concentration in Elementary Education.

I am so excited to be in my 10th year of teaching and in my 2nd year at Meeker! My first eight years in education were at Centennial Elementary in District 6 where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. I was also the student climate and instructional coach there. My first year at Meeker, I was the CLD teacher. I strongly believe that every child is amazing and capable of so much!

I enjoy hanging out with my family, watching sports, hiking, and watching movies. This is going to be an amazing school year and I can't wait to teach 4th grade again!

Meet Mrs. Dreher

I am Mrs. Dreher and thrilled to begin my 3rd year here at Meeker and my 13th year teaching. My previous 2 years have been in 2nd grade, but I also have 10 years of experience teaching 4th grade!

I am a Greeley native and attended K-12th grade here in District 6. I also attended the University of Northern Colorado for my undergraduate and my Masters degrees. I live here in the Meeker neighborhood with my husband, one daughter and our dog, Molly. Lyla, my daughter, attends school here at Meeker and will be in 4th grade this year. I love the experience and perspective of being a Meeker teacher and a parent! In our free time, we love to travel and be outdoors.

I am so excited about this 4th grade group and know it is going to be a fabulous year of learning!
